Sepia Saturday 216: Three men - a mystery

This weeks prompt for Sepia Saturday is of three men in hats.

I couldn't find three men in suits but I did find a picture of three men in hats.

The picture was amongst the collection recovered from the house of Ian's neighbour. It's in poor condition but you can definitely see three men and by the looks of it they are in some kind of costume. Perhaps they are in a play or a charade of some sort? I hope that's what it was because if you look closer....

... you can see that one of them is pointing a gun at the other man. They don't look too worried however...

Also I think the one on the left is is making a gesture of some sort.

Ah, the melodrama. And I don't think the one making the gesture is saying anything particularly nice. Then again, if anyone was pointing a gun at me, I don't believe I'd be saying anything nice, either - one way or another! :)

What lovely costumes and hats...we'll have to have you make up a story. Or perhaps you want us to do so. "Give me your money, or else." "I don't have any money, and this is my old father here."

The guy thumbing his nose is holding a glass. Maybe the guy with the gun was thirsty. yeah right ~

Such a funny picture certainly worth preserving.

It has to be a performance of some sort.

Looks like the beginning of a bad joke: "A Chinaman, a Fisherman and a Russian went into a bar...."

Make that gesture again and I'll shoot!

An intriguing photo. My first impression was a play on Charlie Chan the great Chinese detective.

hmm at first I thought it was some sort of theater too...very different hats....maybe the pistol holder wanted the other hat

It certainly keeps us guessing. It looks to me like some kind of melodrama. Was it a local dramatic society, perhaps? Local newspapers might give a clue, but I admit it would be a long trawl.

Is it a high five, or just hello? I like the photo, at any rate.

Looks like he has his thumb to his nose and would be waving his fingers in an insulting way. Looks like play or some sort.

Unfortunately the spatiotemporal dislocator had inadvertently materialized all three men on the back porch of the courthouse, where they were summarily apprehended for disturbing the peace.

There is nothing finer that a mysterious photograph. All old photographs have a story behind them, but for some the story is longer and more mysterious.

I think Deb Gould nailed it!

I want to hear the end of Deb's joke.

Be more dog

I'm always grateful that we have our dogs. We had never been dog owners up until our move but it had been something that we both wanted ...
