Boys' toys

Ian is now the proud owner of an orange 1.7 ton Kubota digger. We have a lot of ground work to do in France and the quotes we had from the local 'artisans' came to more than we had spent on the walls and roof! Ian searched Ebay and decided that buying a digger would be cheaper, and , as prices seem to be higher in France, we may even make a little profit once we have done with it.

So, today Ian drove the van and trailer up to somewhere near Mansfield and looked at the digger. He liked what he saw and so after a trip to the bank the digger was purchased and loaded onto the trailer. He is now at his sisters in Bedfordshire and tomorrow the digger starts its journey to the Dordogne!

This is a picture of it.

will he really want to sell it when it has done it's job?

I very much doubt it!

Excellent idea - I've been thinking of doing the same thing! Unfortunately, I have now completed the urgent work with prolonged use of a pickaxe and spade. Still, when we have to install the new septic tank . . . . . Or refurbish the pond . . . .

Can you drive one? Ian can't! I told him to start as far away from the house as possible!

The essence of boys' toys is learning through doing . . . . Male (over)confidence will see him move to competence. Mind you, there will be trial and error along the way, so probably he should start a long way away from anything vulnerable!

I dodn't spot this post before.

If I propose to it, do you think it will leave Ian and marry me? I crave a digger.

Well it is definately a match made in heaven! I am quite glad that Ian is in France with the digger and I am here to focus on more interesting things!

Be more dog

I'm always grateful that we have our dogs. We had never been dog owners up until our move but it had been something that we both wanted ...
